Three charged in vehicle larcenies

POUGHKEEPSIE – The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office has arrested three men for allegedly committing several larcenies from vehicles in the Pine Plains area.

The three are charged with stealing personal items totaling in the thousands of dollars from different vehicles all over the Pine Plains area during the early morning hours of July 16.

Cale Cornell, 17, and Matthew Moore, 24, both of Pine Plains were charged with possession of stolen property and conspiracy. Police are not releasing the name of a third suspect, an 18-year-old man, because he is charged with a misdemeanor and is eligible for youthful offender status.

Police said Cornell is also under investigation for kicking out one of the rear windows of a sheriff’s patrol car while he was in custody in the rear seat.

All three are also under investigation for an incident during which a 1,000 gallon propane tank in Pine Plains was damaged by a vehicle during the late night hours of July 15.

Some firefighters who responded to the scene of the damaged and leaking tank were injured.
