Three steal over $6,000 worth of electronics from Walmart

NEWBURGH -- Town of Newburgh Police Department are investigating a large theft of electronics that occurred at the Newburgh Walmart at 4 a.m. on Sunday.

A man approached an employee in electronics and asked about seeing a MP-3 player in one of the locked cabinets. The clerk opened the secure case for these items and was immediately surrounded by two other men. They started to empty the entire case out into a white laundry type bag. The clerk told them to stop but they told him to shut up and cleaned out the case.

The clerk did not attempt to intervene because the three subjects had surrounded him. The items included MP-3 players and I-Pods. The total value of the stolen items was $6372.

The suspects are described as three black males in their 20’s. They ranged in height from five feet, nine inches to six feet tall. The first subject was wearing black shorts, a white t-shirt and a black hat. The second subject was wearing green shorts and a white sweatshirt. The third subject was wearing blue jeans and a collared striped shirt.

The robbers fled the store with the proceeds and got into a waiting vehicle. The vehicle was described as a small silver sports car. They fled out of the lot onto Route 300 northbound.

Anyone with information should call the Town of Newburgh Police at (845)564-1100 or CRIME STOPPERS at (845)566-TIPS. Information leading to an arrest will result in cash rewards, police said.
