Man killed by train

WEST NYACK – A man, said to be in his 20s, was struck and killed while he walked along the CSX railroad tracks near Route 59 in West Nyack Sunday evening, Clarkstown Town Police said.

The man, whose identity has yet to be determined by the Rockland County Medical Examiner’s Office, was walking on the tracks at around 6:40 p.m., police said, when the engineer on the train spotted him, but was unable to stop the train in time with the emergency brake.

Local and CSX police were notified and the body was located.

The investigation is continuing.
