| Frontier offers a reward for information in latest cable thefts |
|
MIDDLETOWN - Frontier Communications Friday announced it is offering up to $2,500 as a reward for credible information that directly leads to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible for recent acts of copper cable theft that have caused disruptions of communications service for some Orange County customers. Frontier, and the Department of Homeland Security take very seriously any tampering with or disruption of telecommunications services. Frontier’s Security Hotline is staffed around the clock, and may be reached by calling the toll-free number: 1-800-590-6605. All calls are kept confidential. Four acts of vandalism have occurred at Frontier locations since November 12, 2008 impacting local and long distance calling, access to E-911 and high-speed Internet service for customers in the Goshen, Scotchtown, Maybrook and Walden exchanges. Frontier Security and law enforcement authorities are investigating the incidents. “Frontier needs the public’s help to keep an eye out for suspicious activities around utility poles, our pedestals and boxes, remote terminals and central offices in order to ensure that our communications services remain intact,” said Debbie Bogdanski, Frontier’s general manager. “Frontier technicians are always in marked vehicles, wear uniform shirts with the Frontier logo, and have Frontier red picture ID badges. If you see or have seen any suspicious vehicles or persons around our equipment, that don’t fit that description, please call the toll-free hotline.” |
