| Logger dead in Dutchess County accident |
|
PINE PLAINS – Police say a logger, who died while working, late Monday morning, apparently was trapped by a tree he may have been cutting down. Eric Donaldson, 36, was working in the woods, off Route 199 in Pike Plains, when the apparent accident happened. Police say they received a call requesting help for a logger trapped under a tree and in cardiac arrest. Several attempts were made to revive Donaldson, including use of a police automatic external defibrillator. It appears that Donaldson, who had worked for J&J Lumber, of Dover Plains, for about five weeks, was trapped by a branch of a tree when the tree rolled after being cut down. A fellow logger cut the tree off the victim and called 911 via his cell phone. An autopsy will be performed. |
