Town supervisor suggests windmills on TZ Bridge

Wind farm?

GREEBURGH – In the wake of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s suggestion that wind turbines be installed on buildings to generate energy, one Westchester County town supervisor is recommending the concept be taken one step further.

Paul Feiner, town supervisor in the Town of Greenburgh, suggested placing wind turbines on the Tappan Zee Bridge.

“It makes sense because the state is seriously considering either building a new bridge or major rehabilitation of the old bridge and this is the perfect time to make this happen.”

Feiner said he was encouraged because an hour after he emailed his idea to the project director, he wrote back saying the state is looking at “a series of environmental initiatives to enhance the environment while reducing our carbon footprint and conserving natural resources.”
