| Police academy student arrested on drug charges |
|
KINGSTON – A Kingston man, who was enrolled in the police academy at Ulster County Community College, was arrested Friday on drug charges. The URGENT task force charged Delvon Wiggins, 22, of 161 Washington Avenue with felony possession and sale of a controlled substance in the third degree. Police began their investigation when they learned that Wiggins was allegedly selling cocaine in the Kingston area. Police began to look into it and Wiggins sold cocaine to an undercover officer. Wiggins had been enrolled in phase one of the police academy and had not been hired by any police agency. He was indicted by an Ulster county grand jury on Thursday and on Friday afternoon, URGENT officers and police academy instructors removed him from training and took him into custody. |
