Two charged with stealing railroad property

KINGSTON – Two Ulster Park residents have been arrested for allegedly stealing 300 pounds of scrap metal from the CSX Railroad property on Old Post Road in Esopus.

The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office said Peter Blanschan, 37, and Chrishtan Smith, 17, were each charged with petit larceny.

They were arrested following a complaint from the railroad of a larceny in progress. They two were taken into custody around 4:20 p.m. on Thursday.
