New York man charged with possession of hallucinogenic mushrooms

BARRYVILLE – A Queens man has been charged with possessing 13 grams of hallucinogenic mushrooms.

Stephen Mackey, 21, was stopped by a Town of Highland constable on Route 97. An odor of marijuana was noticed coming from the car. The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office was called to assist and officers found the mushrooms.

Mackey was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a felony.

He was arraigned and remanded to the Sullivan County jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
