Port Jervis man guilty of three counts of rape

GOSHEN – A 55-year-old Port Jervis man has been found guilty by an Orange County Court jury of sexually assaulting a woman last April.

It took a jury several hours to convict Ronald Shaw of Pike Street of three counts of first-degree rape, and one count each of sexual abuse and assault in the second degree.

District Attorney Frank Phillips said it was alleged that on April 10, 2008 he sexually attacked a woman three times.

When sentenced next month by County Court Judge Nicholas DeRosa, Shaw faces up to 75 years in state prison.

He had been arrested on April 10 by Port Jervis Police and remained in the Orange County jail on $100,000 bail.

Senior Assistant District Attorney Michael Milza prosecuted the case.
