The Town of Wallkill Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Mobile Life Support Services yesterday inked a contract to avoid Medicare double billing of seniors in the event they need emergency medical services.

TOWVAC President Skip Clark said it will save those who need the ambulance service money. “When we call MLS support, we have to bill because that’s the only way we survive today, we bill the insurance companies, and of course, Mobile Life had to bill because they’re a professional company and the problem was, the seniors were getting double billed,” he said. “This was just for Medicare patients, they were getting double billed and they couldn’t afford it.”

Now, according to the agreement signed between Clark and Gayle Metzger, president of Mobile Life, an advanced support services paramedic company, Mobile Life will bill TOWVAC and TOWVAC will, in turn, bill the insurance company of each Medicare eligible person they transport.
