Man could get life for sexually assaulting child

A Middletown man was found guilty by an Orange County Court Jury of nine counts in connection with the sexual assault on a child.

District Attorney Frank Phillips said David Redmond was convicted of sexual conduct against a child in the first degree, rape in the first degree and sodomy in the first degree. The jury found him guilty and found that between March 1, 2002 and September 28, 2002, he engaged in sexual conduct against a child under 13 years of age. Phillips said because he has prior convictions, he faces a sentence of 25 years to life. Because to sentences could run consecutively, he could get 50 years to life.

Redmond was arrested in the City of Middletown by the Orange County Child Abuse Investigative Unit of the DA’s Office. Assistant DA Kelle Grimmer prosecuted the case.
