Former school district clerk named city clerk in Middletown

MIDDLETOWN – Middletown Mayor Marlinda Duncanson has appointed and the common council has confirmed Alicia Olsen as the city clerk.

Olsen is a familiar face in Middletown as she was district clerk in the Middletown City school District for some 17 years. Prior to that, she worked for the City of Newburgh for 16 years.

Duncanson said Middletown officials modified the job title for the position.

“The title had originally been deputy city clerk, clerk of the common council and registrar,” she said. “We changed the job title; we had to go through local law and submit it to Albany. It’s now city clerk, clerk of the common council. Registrar is within the job title of city clerk.”

Olsen will begin her $52,000 per year job on Monday, March 3. She replaces Charles Mitchell who resigned to take the position of Orange County Consumer Affairs commissioner.
