Suspects arrested in Poughkeepsie murder

Poughkeepsie City Police have arrested a Poughkeepsie man and charged him with second-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of a store clerk.

Police said Eduardo “Tito” Montijo was arrested in the Village of Rhinebeck yesterday. State Police assisted in the arrest. Montijo allegedly shot and killed Mamun Miah, 20, a clerk at the Worrall Avenue Deli. Miah was shot during a robbery late Sunday night; he died shortly before 1 a.m. on Monday.

Police also arrested Montijo's sister, Elsie Defreijas and charged her with first-degree robbery, aiding, abetting and acting in concert with Montijo during the commission of the robbery.
