Metro-North upgrades service to Rockland, Orange

More trains will be added to to handle
the growing weekend traffic
to Port Jervis
Metro-North Railroad is adding two improvements to its west-of-the-Hudson railroad lines.

Beginning August 4, Rockland County residents can shave up to 26 minutes off their commuting time with two new express trains that make no stops in New Jersey.

On the Port Jervis line, six new trains, including two express runs, will be added on Saturdays and Sundays, bringing to 14 the number of daily weekend trains beginning August 9.

The Metro-North Committee of the MTA has established West of Hudson fares to Penn Station, New York and other destinations via the Secaucus transfer station.

When New Jersey Transit opens the new station, Metro-North customers can transfer to NJTransit’s Northeast Corridor trains for travel to Penn Station as well as to other stations on NJTransit’s Newark Division, including Newark Penn Station and Newark Liberty International Airport.

The fare to Secaucus will be the same as the fare to Hoboken, but trips to Penn Station, NY will cost an additional $1.65 for the Port Jervis Line and 90-cents for the Pascack Valley Line.

The Penn Station differential for a monthly ticket is $46 on the Port Jervis line and $26 on the Pascack Valley Line.
