| C&D debris dumped at Glenmere Lake |
||
Town of Chester – A large amount of construction and demolition debris has apparently been dumped at Glenmere Lake in the Town of Chester and Orange County officials want to know who did it. Environmental watchdog Jay Westervelt was at the site Friday and said the material fills the stream immediately below the dam that hosts a population of state-endangered Northern Cricket Frogs. He said municipal trucks were observed dumping there, but a police officer who witnessed it was unsure of the municipal name on the vehicles. “The material appears to have been dumped without county knowledge on what appears to be county property at Glenmere,” said a county spokesman. “The county is investigating to find out who committed the action so that we can bring them to justice and remediate the situation.”
