White Plains woman arraigned in matricide

Westchester County District Attorney Jeanine Pirro said Halina Dzebolo, 42, charged with the murder of her Anna Dzebolo, 74. Halina Dzebolo was indicted for two counts of murder in the second degree.

The indictment alleges that on August 8, 2003, Halina suffocated and beat her mother to death. Police responded to the victims’ apartment at 41 Barker Avenue, White Plains on a report that the victim had been injured in a fall. Authorities arrived to find the victim dead, lying in her bed. Subsequently, an autopsy performed at the Westchester County Medical Examiner’s office determined that the victim died from blunt trauma and suffocation.

Halina Dzebolo was arrested on August 9, after the findings of the autopsy reports were revealed. She is currently being held in the Westchester County jail. Murder in the second degree carries a maximum sentence of imprisonment of 25 years to life.
