Beacon honors two firefighters

When two Beacon city firefighters were to be honored for saving a woman from her burning apartment in January, they didn’t want to accept the accolades until they knew the woman was getting better.

She is recuperating in the hospital so firefighters Timothy Dexter and Timothy Joseph were given a hero’s tribute at last night’s city council meeting.

Mayor Clara Lou Gould noted the men rescued the woman from the Forrestal Heights senior apartments on January 13.

The city council presented the men with certificates from the city, the fire chief gave them the medal of valor from the fire department and the Forrestal Heights staff presented the men with balloons and flowers.

Both Dexter and Joseph were given a standing ovation for their valor.
