Political notes

  • State Supreme Court Justice Anthony Carpinello Tuesday announced his intention to seek re-election as a justice of the Third Judicial District.  The judge announced his campaign in Troy, Hudson and Kingston. He has been a justice for 14 years. The Third Judicial District encompasses the counties of Rensselaer, Albany, Columbia, Ulster, Schoharie, Greene and Sullivan. He has served as a Supreme Court justice since 1995, but one year later was selected as an associate justice of the Appellate Division Third Department. He is a resident of East Greenbush.
  • Citizens to Elect John Bonacic will hold a cocktail reception on Thursday, May 1 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at The Eagle’s Nest in Bloomingburg. Bonacic, state senator from the 42nd District, represents parts of Orange and Ulster counties, as well as all of Sullivan and Delaware counties. Anyone wishing to attend may purchase tickets at the door or call 845-386-4434.
