Teen charged with burglarizing high school

WASHINGTONVILLE - A 16-year-old Campbell Hall resident was arrested Friday after he allegedly burglarized the Washingtonville High school, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The male juvenile allegedly broke into the high school overnight and stole various items. A teacher reporting to work early Friday discovered the youth in the building and called police. The suspect fled into a wooded area and was apprehended after a brief search by Deputy Dustin Palen and K-9 Jake.

Washingtonville Police have charged the juvenile with burglary in the third degree, a felony, and petit larceny, a misdemeanor.

The suspect also had two outstanding family court warrants from the Sheriff’s Office.
