Port Jervis man arrested for possession of heroin with fentanyl

PORT JERVIS – A month-long investigation into drug sales in the Jersey Avenue area of Port Jervis resulted in the arrest of a local man.

City Police charged Richard McInturff, 28, of 146 Jersey Avenue with three felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell. He was sent to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail pending grand jury evaluation.

The arrest stemmed from an undercover surveillance operation on Jersey Avenue where McInturff was found in possession of 10 packets containing a mixture of heroin and fentanyl with intent to distribute them. Investigators executed a warrant search on his residence and recovered an additional 170 packets of the drug mixture, packaging materials and cash.

The Orange County District Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case.

Port Jervis Police ask anyone who sees illicit narcotics activity in their neighborhood to call them at the department’s confidential TIPS line at 845-858-4003.
