Maher named National Purple Heart Hall of Honor, Inc. executive director
Brian Maher

NEW WINDSOR – Former Walden Village mayor Brian Maher has been named full-time executive director of the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor, Inc.

The non-profit organization supports the mission of the center through fundraising and other forms of outreach. The National Hall of Honor, in New Windsor, is run by Director Anita Pidala and operates under the Palisades Interstate Park Commission.

The Hall of Honor museum “is the only nationally designated facility dedicated to collecting, preserving and sharing the stories of our nation’s service men and women who have received the Purple Heart medal,” said Maher, who most recently served as chief of staff to the former State Senator William Larkin, who retired at the end of 2018.

Maher takes over the reins at the Hall of Honor, Inc. from former executive director Andrew Komonchak, who has retired.

Maher plans to launch a new project to provide trips for Purple Heart recipients from across the country to visit the Hall of Honor, West Point and other notable military landmarks in the Hudson Valley.
