Port Jervis replaces four police officers

PORT JERVIS – The City of Port Jervis will hire four new police officers, but they won’t add to the ranks of the 31-member department.

The new cops will be replacing four retiring officers, said Mayor Kelly Decker.

“We have 18 patrolmen and then we have our detective squad, our sergeants, our chief and lieutenant; number-wise it’s 31,” he said.

The new officers were officially approved by the common council on Monday night.
