Middletown rolls out Nixle update system

MIDDLETOWN – The City of Middletown is the latest municipality to sign up for the Nixle system to alert residents as to upcoming events, emergencies or schedule changes.

Mayor Joseph DeStefano said the system, proposed by the police department, is extremely helpful in getting the word out to the community.

“This is a notification system for both emergency and non-emergency so if you want to know if your road is going to be closed or what the plans are for any city action, most of it will be available by text message or phone call,” he said.

Middletown residents may sign up on the city website.

Several other communities and police departments also utilize the Nixle service.
