Body found in Wappinger Creek was that of young woman

Items similar to what the victim was wearing

WAPPINGER – State Police say the body pulled from Wappinger Creek Tuesday evening was that of a young woman between the ages of 16 and 25. She was believed to be about five-feet, three-inches tall and weighed about 89 pounds. She was wearing white jeans, a pink t-shirt, a black button-up sweater, and black and purple Merrell sneakers.

Her body was found partially submerged.

The forensic examination and autopsy are still ongoing, police said.

Anyone with information about the incident or that which may lead to the identification of the victim is asked to call State Police Troop K headquarters at 845-677-7300. All calls can be kept confidential.

State Police were assisted at the scene by New Hackensack firefighters and the Dutchess County Medical Examiner’s Officer.
