Middletown to start planning for Downtown Streetscape project

MIDDLETOWN – Planning for the $2.1 million Downtown Revitalization Initiative Streetscape project in Middletown will begin shortly. The common council has given its okay for Mayor Joseph DeStefano to sign a proposal by a designer to develop the area.

Common Council President Miguel Rodrigues said it will tie in with the Heritage Trail as that comes through Middletown.

“We expect the county to open bids for the Heritage Trail this spring,” Rodrigues said. “The Heritage Trail will go through the property along with the skate park so we will beautify the area by adding additional parking, benches and maybe bathroom facilities for those who are using the skate park.”

The city is also moving ahead with engineering for an ADA sidewalks project and for the Middletown Traffic Operation project.
