Sullivan sheriff’s deputies make gun, drug arrests over holiday weekend

MONTICELLO – Sullivan County Sheriff’s deputies arrested one man for possessing an unlicensed handgun and another man with possession of a large quantity of drugs in separate arrests over the holiday weekend.

Andre Miller, 47, of Monticello was arrested Friday afternoon, December 29, after a computer “hit” from a license plate reader indicated he was driving with a suspended registration due to an insurance lapse.  He was charged with felony weapon possession, misdemeanor driving with a suspended vehicle registration, and violations of unregistered and uninspected vehicle and was sent to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail pending future court action.

Undersheriff Eric Chaboty said Monticello Police assisted deputies at the scene.

On the afternoon of Saturday, December 30, deputies stopped a vehicle for a violation on the Route 42 overpass in the Town of Thompson. The driver, Mykell Gray, 37, of White Plains, was found in possession of 67 bags of heroin, 24 bags of crack cocaine and three cell phones.  He was charged with three felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and was sent to the Sullivan County Jail without bail pending a future court appearance.
