Ramapo Police break up underage New Year’s drinking party

AIRMONT – A 19-year-old man is charged with being responsible for an underage drinking party on New Year’s Eve that led to Ramapo Town Police putting an end to it at 12:45 a.m. on January 1.

Police said some 50 underage children where in a house in the Village of Airmont when they arrived on the scene. Many of those kids were drinking alcohol.

The homeowner was not there at the time and had no knowledge of alcohol being served.

The 19-year-old, who police said was responsible for the party, was arrested for the misdemeanor of criminal nuisance and was released to a parent pending future court action.

Police officers contacted the parents of all attendees and arranged for safe rides home.
