Orange County lawmakers adopt 2019 budget

GOSHEN – The Orange County Legislature approved the county’s 2019 budget on Thursday after cutting some $2 million from the spending plan as proposed by County Executive Steven Neuhaus.

The now $796 million budget is a sound one, said County Legislature Chairman Stephen Brescia.

“I think it’s responsible and I think we have a healthy sales tax revenue coming in,” he said. “We made a few changes and tweaked a few of his numbers, but I think overall it is a pretty sound budget and we will be able to do some infrastructure and public safety things.”

Other counties in the region have either approved their budgets or are in the final stages of review.
