Olive man faces up to seven years in prison on weapon possession conviction

KINGSTON – When Kirk Carney, 57, of Olive returns to Ulster County Court in February, he faces up to seven years in state prison and five years of post-release supervision.

Carney pled guilty last Monday to felony criminal possession of a weapon in connection with his possession of a large capacity ammunition feeding device capable of housing 25 rounds.

A search warrant executed at his home in September yielded the ammunition device along with several shotguns and rifles that he was not allowed to possess because he is a convicted felon.

Carney is also a level three sex offender having twice been convicted of sexual offense crimes.
