Town of Deerpark budget gets green light from state

DEERPARK – An audit by the state comptroller’s office found that revenue and expenditure projections in the $3.2 million proposed Town of Deerpark 2018 budget are reasonable.

Auditors said the town’s general fund balance has continued to increase for the past five years, from $898,669 to $1.45 million, a 62 percent increase. That is a result of overestimating expenditures and underestimating revenues. State officials said the town board should closely review budgeting revenues and appropriations compared to prior years and adjust the budget as necessary.

The town’s preliminary budget complies with the property tax levy limit.
