Salary increases proposed for Middletown mayor, council president

MIDDLETOWN – The Middletown Common Council will consider raising the salaries of mayor and common council president.

The local law that would increase their pay was placed on the desks of council members Tuesday night.

Under the proposal, the annual salary for the mayor, which is a full-time position, would increase from $75,000 to $90,000 and the salary for council president, a part-time position, would increase from $15,000 to $20,000.

Mayor Joseph DeStefano and Council President Miguel Rodrigues were both re-elected unopposed last month.
