Orange sheriff promotes active shooter training

GOSHEN – Following last weekend’s incident at the Galleria at Crystal Run where a gun was discharged by a man as he walked through the Town of Wallkill shopping center with his family, Orange County Sheriff Carl DuBois has renewed his offer for active shooter training for business owners and their employees.

DuBois said the offer is free of charge.

“We encourage any business to contact the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, 845-291-7900, and you will be put through to the proper people,” he said. “We would encourage you to get this training, which is free of charge to businesses in Orange County.”

Just last week, DuBois held similar training for houses of worship.

Other counties in the region also conduct similar programs.
