Spring Valley fire chief slightly hurt in crash

The crash remains under investigation

SPRING VALLEY – A Spring Valley fire chief en route to a fire call late Friday afternoon was involved in an accident with another vehicle.

Ramapo Town Police said the crash occurred shortly after 5 p.m. at Route 306 and Ralph Boulevard.

Responding officers determined that a 41-year-old Spring Valley fire chief was driving an SUV and a 52-year-old Spring Valley resident was driving a car. Both vehicles were traveling south on Route 306.

Police said the car attempted to turn left onto Ralph Boulevard when the chief’s vehicle struck it, then hit a utility pole before going down an embankment.

The fire chief was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffer with head and shoulder pain. The other drive was not injured.

Police did not identify either driver on their Facebook page.

The Monsey Fire Department also responded to the scene.

No tickets were issued but the accident remains under investigation.
