Montreign Casino go-ahead expected early this fall

ALBANY – Officials are waiting for the green light to start actual construction of the Empire Resorts’ Montreign Casino in Kiamesha Lake.

The project was chosen late last year as one of only three in the state, but before it can proceed, more red tape must be cut.  That includes an extensive investigation of all of the project’s principals, and that should be completed shortly, said state gaming spokesman Lee Park.

“Concurrent with that the commission has to actually pass rules that enable to issue a license and we had a meeting back in the beginning of July where we introduced those regulations,” Lee said.  “They then are published in the state register and are subject to a 45 day comment period.”

Assuming the process goes smoothly, the earliest a license can be approved is September.
