January home sales down in Ulster County

KINGSTON – Single-family home sales fell 25 percent in January compared to the first month of 2021, according to the Ulster County Board of Realtors.

A total of 186 homes were sold in January of last year compared with 139 homes sold this past January.

The average selling price of a house rose by 16 percent, from $390,581 in January 20921 to $453,162 in January 2022, the board of realtors reported.

Homes remained on the market an average of 64 days this past January compared to 52 days one year earlier – an increase of 23 percent.

Available listings fell 48 percent, going from 249 in January 2021 to 129 in January 2022.
