Casino construction to move into high gear

KIAMESHA LAKE – Now that the license has been granted for the Montreign Casino and Resort in Kiamesha Lake, workers will begin to pour the concrete foundations for the buildings in early January. The casino will be open for business in March 2018.

Empire Resorts’ Vice President Charles Degliomini, who has been shepherding the project since its inception, said they will start the hiring process about one year into the construction.

“Right up until a year before we open we will start ramping up our hiring and from a year out all the way to the six-month mark, the three month mark, we will be hiring, just on the casino side, approximately 1,500 people,” Degliomini said. “On the entire project we will be hosting 2,400 new jobs.”

In addition to the casino, the project will include hotels, conference centers, an indoor water park and other amenities.
