Empire Resorts to keep racino operating after Montreign casino opens

The racetrack and racino staying in business

MONTICELLO – When the Montreign casino is up and running at the former Concord Hotel site in Kiamesha Lake, its owner, Empire Resorts, plans to keep its Monticello Casino and Raceway operational.

The casino in Monticello is in reality a racino, a gaming facility with just electronic video lottery terminals.

Company Vice President Charles Degliomini said Monticello Casino and Raceway will serve a different customer base.

“We see it as a place where people who might be a little bit more comfortable with what we call in our industry a ‘locals’ joint’; they may be a little bit happier staying at the existing property as opposed to coming to the new Montreign,” Degliomini said.

The harness racetrack will also remain at its current location with some amenity upgrades.
