Mohonk closed for week after guests get sick

NEW PALTZ -- The famed Mohonk Mountain House resort in New Paltz is closed for one week as cleaning crews scrubb the facilities down following a brakeout of suspected norovirus.

Guests and employees became ill in droves for days last week prompting the investigaton that led health officials to believe the stomach bug is the culprit.

Some 200 people have been brought in to sanitize the resort in hopes that it can reopen in a week. Guests this week were required to check out this past Friday, February 7, so work could begin.

The resort will consider refunds to guests on a case-by-case basis.
