SUNY New Paltz student dies in dorm, no foul play suspected

NEW PALTZ – A first-year student at SUNY New Paltz was found dead in a residence hall on campus Thursday evening, college officials said.

University Police received a 911 call for a non-responsive student and found the person was not breathing. College and State Police said there is no reason to suspect foul play or any threat to other members of the campus community.

The name of the student will be released once family members have been notified.

Residence life staff and counselors from the Psychological Counseling Center are on the scene to provide grief counseling and assistance.

Police are continuing their investigation and ask that anyone with information call them at 845-257-2222.
