State provides funds for Bloomingburg dissolution process

ALBANY – The Village of Bloomingburg, which will ask voters next month if they want to dissolve their local government, will receive a state grant of $42,750 to assist in the process.

The funding comes from the Local Government Citizen Re-Organization Empowerment program that is designed to empower and support local initiatives that streamline services and reduce property taxes.

The funding for Bloomingburg will assist with generating and distributing community-specific information, enabling village residents to make informed decisionsn the proposal calling for dissolution.

A public referendum is scheduled for September 30 on whether to move forward with dissolution or not. If dissolution is approved by the majority of voters, the funding will also assist in the development of a final dissolution plan of the village.
