Sixteen arrested in three-county drug sweep

KINGSTON – A multi-agency investigation resulted Thursday morning in the arrests of 16 people in Ulster, Dutchess and Orange counties on several drug charges.

The arrests took place during predawn raids in the three counties, said Ulster County Sheriff Paul Van Blarcum.

“It was a three-month undercover investigation. Sixteen individuals were arrested. Thirteen were arrested on sealed indictments from the grand jury and three others were arrested on other warrants, all for possession and sale of narcotics,” he said.

Undercover URGENT Task Force members purchased some 20 grams of cocaine, 1,000 decks of heroin and several diverted pharmaceuticals during the investigation. One vehicle was also seized for forfeiture proceedings.

URGENT members were assisted by the US Marshals NY/NJ Fugitive Task Force, State Police, Ulster and Dutchess Sheriff’s Offices and municipal police from Ellenville, Kingston, City and Town of Poughkeepsie, City of Newburgh, the towns of Woodstock, Lloyd, Shandaken, Plattekill and New Paltz, Ulster County Probation, and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Arrested were:

  • Iqwan Mandiville, 21, of 78 Clinton Street, Napanoch, charged with three counts of criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance as felonies. He was arrested on a sealed indicted and sent to the Ulster County Jail with no bail.
  • Fateen Akbar, 29, of the Dutchess County Jail in Poughkeepsie, charged with three counts each of criminal possession and sale of drugs. He was held with no bail.
  • Juanita Amador-Velazquez, 47, of 21 Maple Avenue in Ellenville, charged with one count each of criminal sale and possession of drugs. She was sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.
  • Ryan Gruber, 26, of 47 Derrenbacher Street in Kingston. He was charged with two counts each of criminal sale and possession of drugs on a sealed indictment and was held with no bail.
  • Donna Van Tassell, 46, of 254 Glenerie Boulevard in Saugerties. She was charged with two counts each of criminal sale and possession of drugs in a sealed indictment and held with no bail.
  • Christopher Ronda, 33, of 363 Mettacahonts Road in Accord. He was charged in a sealed indictment with two counts each of criminal sale and possession of drugs in a sealed indictment and was held without bail.
  • Melissa Gallo, 32, of 12 Alberts Avenue in Rosendale, was charged in a sealed indictment with one count each of criminal sale and possession of drugs and was held with no bail.
  • Jason Morano, 34, of 12 Alberts Avenue in Rosendale, who was charged in a sealed indictment with three counts each of criminal possession and sale of drugs and was held with no bail.
  • Justin Klare, 21, of 19 Burnett Road in Saugerties was charged in a sealed indictment with two counts each of criminal possession and sale of drugs and was sent with no bail.
  • Ana Jacobson, 22, of 19 Burnett Road in Saugerties was charged in a sealed indictment with two counts each of criminal sale and possession of drugs and was held without bail.
  • Peter Golgoski, 36, of 88 Mountain Road in Rosendale was charged with three counts each of criminal sale and possession of drugs. He was sent to the Ulster County Jail without bail.
  • Rachael Armbruster, 25, of 60 Terwilliger Road in Kerhonkson was charged in a sealed indictment with one count of criminal sale of drugs and two counts of criminal possession of drugs. She was held with no bail.
  • Jacob Lester, 30, of 60 Terwilliger Road in Kerhonkson, was charged in a sealed indictment with four counts each of criminal sale and possession of drugs and was held with no bail.
  • Hunter Falck, 27, of 50 42nd Street in Kerhonkson was arrested on one count each of attempted criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance. He was sent to the Ulster County Jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
  • Jahdeem Meade, 23, of 2 Chadwick Gardens in Newburgh was charged in a sealed indictment with three counts each of criminal possession and sale of drugs. He was sent to the Ulster County Jail with no bail.
  • Jerrod Anderson, 29, of 1435 Creek Locks Road in Eddyville, was charged in a sealed on two counts each of criminal sale and possession of drugs and was held without bail.
