Bank robbed in Bloomingburg

Surveillance video of suspect

BLOOMINGBURG – Police are looking for two people in connection with a bank robbery in southern Sullivan County on Monday morning.

Police say a woman, about 30 years old, five feet, eight inches tall, about 120 pounds and wearing a brown wig, walked into the Citizens Bank branch in Bloomingburg at 10:30 a.m., and handed a teller a note demanding money. It indicated she had a gun, although none was displayed.

The bandit fled with an undetermined amount of cash and a red dye pack, which exploded.

The woman left the bank and got into a red Chevrolet Cobalt with new design license plates. It was not known if the driver was a man or woman.   The car was later recovered at the Middletown Motel off Route 211 in the Town of Wallkill.

Anyone with information about the incident or who may have seen the car or the robber is asked to call State Police at 845-344-5300.
