New Paltz man indicted for raping underage girl
KINGSTON – The Ulster County grand
jury has indicted a New Paltz man on two rape charges for allegedly having
sex with a 13-year-old girl.
Ulster County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Ian Mehrhof in early September.
Police said he had contacted the child on Facebook, arranged a meeting
and took her to a secluded area of the Town of Gardiner where he had sex
with her.
The investigation that led to Mehrhof’s arrest also involved the
Ulster County Probation Department and the URGENT Task Force.
