Man killed in industrial accident in Saugerties company

SAUGERTIES – A 30-year-old Greenville man was killed when he became caught in a shaft of a machine auger at the Solite Corp. plant in Saugerties, Town Police Chief Joseph Singra said.

The accident occurred at 6:53 p.m. Thursday at the facility at 1135 Kings Highway. The plant manufactures concrete products.

Sinagra said Stephen Wickham was pronounced dead at the scene.

The US Department of Labor Mine Safety and Health Administration is investigating along with town police, and State Police.

Assisting at the scene of the accident were Diaz Ambulance, Mount Marion Fire Department and the police agencies.
