NRC gives Entergy good grades in annual Indian Point performance review

Good marks for 'safety'; security grade
comes later

BUCHANAN – The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has given the Indian Point nuclear power plants good grades for its operations last year.

“The NRC determined that overall, Indian Point Units 2 and 3 operated in a manner that preserved public health and safety and met all cornerstone objectives,” the federal agency said in a March 5 letter to Entergy officials.

Indian Point spokesman Jerry Nappi said this proves the plants are being run properly and safely.

“It’s a validation of Indian Point’s focus on safety and Entergy operates the plants safely so that they can continue to operate for many years to come and provide this much needed electricity for the Hudson Valley and New York City,” Nappi said.

The NRC’s inspection report did not include security information. That will be discussed separately.
