Man charged with killing his girlfriend in Newburgh


NEWBURGH – A 20-year-old Newburgh woman is dead and her boyfriend has been charged with killing her.

Newburgh City Police are calling it a domestic homicide that occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

When police arrived at the scene at 68 West Street, they found Alexis Harris dead inside. The cause of death has not been revealed by police pending an autopsy, although investigators said there were signs of a physical altercation apparent at the crime scene.

Police charged Harris’ boyfriend, Yannick Evina-Ze, 30, of the same address with second-degree murder.

The investigation is continuing.
