Catskill Visitor Center named for Hinchey

Hinchey (file): "This region is
very rich ..."

MOUNT TREMPER – The Catskill Center for Conservation and Development is naming the soon to be opened Catskill Visitor Center in Mount Tremper after Congressman Maurice Hinchey for his 38 years of public service and helping to initiate the plans for the new center and securing $380,000 in federal funds for its design.

Hinchey said the Catskill Interpretive Center has been a dream of his for over two decades and construction of the first stage is finally about to begin.

“This region is very rich in natural, historical and cultural resources and having a facility that will provide residents and tourists with information about these resources is critically important to our mission to protect and preserve our region,” Hinchey said. “It is also critically important to promote the region as a first-class destination, keeping our local economies strong and our quality of life intact.”
