| Six year ‘do not drink’ order lifted for Shore Haven Water System |
|
|
POUGHKEEPSIE – The “do not drink the water” order has been lifted for the Shore Haven Water System in Pawling as the result of improvements made by the Dutchess County Water and Wastewater Authority. The ban has been in place since 2005. The drinking ban was originally imposed on the Shore Haven Water System
due to levels of disinfection by-products that consistently exceeded the
federally established drinking water standards. As a result of a new well
put into service by the authority in December, water has improved significantly,
and DBP levels are now within the allowable levels, officials said.
