Newburgh parking tribunal moves forward

ALBANY – A proposal to establish a parking tribunal in the City of Newburgh has advanced in the State Senate. Senator William Larkin (R-Cornwall-on-Hudson) is sponsoring the bill which would create a special parking court to resolve outstanding parking tickets.

The bill has been voted out of the Senate’s Local Government Committee and sent to the floor for a vote. Previous attempts to pass the legislation in the Senate and Assembly have failed.

“This legislation is vital for Newburgh financially,” said Larkin. “There are millions of dollars at stake and the city desperately needs the ability to recoup these monies.”

Larkin said he is confident the Senate will pass the measure and “it is up to the Assembly to assist the city by passing this bill and allowing it to go to the governor for his signature.”
